The geometric dimensions and surface quality of the welded shell body material after blanking shall meet the process requirements. The welding shell opening, especially the large opening, usually adopts the turn-over structure, which is beneficial to improve the stress distribution, reduce the concentration of the force at the opening, reduce the geometric discontinuity on the welding shell, and optimize the working environment of the switchgear. If the opening flanging process is improper, it is easy to produce cracks, scratches, dents and other surface defects that affect the strength and safety of use, as well as thinning of wall thickness and insufficient flanging height. Therefore, it is necessary to check the opening after flanging, "there shall be no cracks, scratches, dents and other defects on the surface after flanging", "the thickness reduction and flanging height after flanging shall meet the requirements of design and process documents."

The end of GIS welding shell is welded with equipment flange, and in most cases, it is delivered as parts, and then multiple welding shells are connected and installed with switchgear and control equipment by complete assembly units. Therefore, in order to ensure the connection quality between the welded bodies, after the simplified body and the end flange are welded, it is necessary to "check the verticality between the simplified body and the flange. Unless otherwise specified in the drawing, the verticality is not more than 0.5 of the length of the cylinder", which is clearly specified in GB150 and JB/T4734 standards.
